Rural Curriculum

A major focus of the Institute is the children of organic farmers whose future on the land is generally sabotaged by the existing educational system which has been designed exclusively for persons from non-rural, non-agricultural backgrounds.

Touched by the demand of organic farmers that something be done about this alarming situation, the NFI has initiated a workgroup of organic farmers led by persons who have themselves kept their children out of school, and asked them to create a curriculum of studies that will not only generate intense love for the land and agriculture, but also enable them to deal successfully with the modern world and its demands including certification at the high school and graduate levels, when required or desired by the student concerned.

NFI is a constituent of the Organic Farming Association of India, a registered body of organic farmers from the Indian subcontinent.

The workgroup on curriculum design for rural children is constituted as under:
